Gone but Not Forgotten

Jean Paul Gaultier payed homage to the late Amy Winehouse for his Spring 2012 couture show in Paris. The collection was a complete with the thick black eyeliner, beehive hairstyle, & accented with a cigarette. Amy Winehouse's father & other family members were displeased and thought the collection was misrepresented and unauthorized. Gaultier's intention was to create a literal take on the collection stating, "I think Amy Winehouse was truly a fashion icon" whose style has failed to be honored by magazines since her death last July. Personally, the collection seems harmless & respectful while still remaining tasteful. What do you all think? ...Yes or No, no, no?

So, you may have seen your favorite IT girls like Rihanna and Solange rock'n these super cute shades with all these curls & swirls around the frames! Well they are the Baroque sunglasses by Prada. Which was part of the SS 2011 collection, but dope shades never fade! Besides, they're like a necessity! Any who, the style got its name, from its actual meaning -baroque {pronounced (bə-rōk')}. The concept of its origin was a style of art and architecture, the expression of bold & elaborate curves. Just a quick lesson, in case someone inquires -beauty & brains ladies;-) ...FAB news tho! I found some equally cute frames in various colors for less than $15! Prada price? -Nada!

Versace is bring'n the mermaid to land, well in the world of fashion, the runway. The Spring/Summer 2012 ad campaign, which features Gisele Bundchen in very detailed & polished feminine pieces that are super sexy! The creative mind behind all of this, Miss Donatella herself tells Vogue, “I was thinking of sirens and mermaids, their hot sexuality.” I think we all can agree that she nailed the concept lol

Paula Patton looked gorgeous in a bright canary yellow Monique Lhuillier gown & she absolutely OWNED this dress! There's these oh so classy satin woven clutches by Bottega Veneta that have been seen throughout the red carpet! {Ex. Emma Stone, from The Help} So, I looked into them! They come in a variation of sizes & colors and start at about $1,390 & up. I was shop'n in Marshall's a couple of days ago and snagged a similar clutch for $7!!!! It'll look super chic with an LBD for a night in the city or with some jeans & a blazer:-) Fabulous Find!!

A chip off the old BLOCK! Color blocking has always been quite popular & so VERY easy to do. You take no more than 3 fabulous, yet bold colors -in pieces of course. For instance: a blouse, blazer, slacks or pencil skirt. Also, if those pieces aren't stashed in your closet... You can never go wrong with your shoes, a clutch, statement jewelry, or even a scarf! Whatever you do, DON'T GO OVERBOARD! I will admit color blocking is NOT for everyone & with all the array of colors, it may become overwhelming... The four campaign models include: the one & only Naomi Campbell, Daphne Groeneveld, Kristen McMenamy, and Karen Elson. The pieces consisted of chic blazers, dainty pleated mini skirts, & overly embellished gowns! Naomi is sell'n IT!

A Glimpse Into Time

As you all may know my LOVE for shoes hahaha, & Jeffrey Campbell being amongst my favs! I admire all the quirky, yet bodacious styles of his shoes, I like to think they each have a story! Which leads me to the Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook... Appropriately named "Jeffrey Campbell x The Damned":-) Campbell hops into a time machine for a glimpse back into the 1960's, where mod meets ultra-modern. Tho none of these are really tickling my fancy, I must say the "Shadow" spiked booties are kinda HOT! Reminds me of my Sam Edelman "Lorissa"! But I'm sure with all the right pieces & accessories -ALL of these shoes will WORK!
